A bush cord is the traditional Canadian full cord: a neatly stacked pile 4 feet high, 4 feet deep and 8 feet long — 128 cubic feet, the same as the US cord. A face cord is one row of that stack — usually a third, depending on log length. The official unit, though, is the stacked cubic metre (35.3 cubic feet); Measurement Canada recommends it precisely because cord-family terms get abused, and it advises buyers to treat any “cord” price without dimensions as a question, not an answer. Roughly: one bush cord ≈ 3.6 stacked cubic metres ≈ the wood from about 1.4 tonnes of dense seasoned hardwood, stacked.
