Wall Mounted Electric Fireplaces

Wall mounted electric fireplaces put a real flame on a wall with no flue, no chimney breast and no builder. Every unit here runs on a standard 120V outlet, draws 12.5 amps at full heat, and delivers 5,200 BTU of supplemental warmth.
Start with the wall, not the catalogue
Measure the clear run between two fixed points, then take off four inches. That number decides the width that will look fitted rather than wedged. Centre the flame at about 48 inches from the floor, keep 8 inches above and 12 below, and make sure a socket is within reach of the 72-inch lead.
Which shape suits your room
Linear units are wide and low, the default for a media wall. Curved panels wrap the flame toward seating that sits off-axis. Frameless panoramic models are designed to be recessed so the glass sits nearly flush with the plaster. Slim recessed bodies are three inches deep and fit inside an internal stud wall. Three sided units sit in a divider and show the flame from more than one room. Compact 36 to 50 inch bodies suit bedrooms, hallways and walls that cannot take a 60.
Sizes worth knowing
Fifty inches suits a snug or a secondary room. Sixty is the size most living rooms settle on, and it needs about 68 inches of clear wall. Seventy-two earns its wall only when the run is 80 inches or more, and anything wider on a short wall reads as an error rather than generosity. If the wall falls between the standards, 52 and 56 inch bodies exist for the walls the 50 and 60 both miss.
Surface, recess or built-in
A surface mount adds four inches to the wall and takes about forty minutes. A recess needs a framed pocket, a socket inside it and a plasterer. A three sided or see-through unit needs a framed box rather than a pocket, and a slim recessed model is the only option that fits an internal partition without building out into the room.
Heat and running costs
The heater is supplemental, not central heating. Expect 400 to 600 square feet comfortably, and roughly 22 to 23 cents an hour at full output on the US average tariff. A thermostat model cycles the element and lands nearer 15 to 17 cents an evening. The flame runs on its own all year for a few watts.
Finishes and control
Crystal beds refract light and read as jewellery in a modern room. Log beds look like a fire and age better in a traditional interior. Black glass disappears into a dark wall; matte black hides fingerprints better than gloss. Remote, app and voice control all exist now, but the panel behind the glass is what works when the batteries or the wifi fail.
Installation and delivery
Surface mounting needs two people, a level and a stud finder. Every fire is bench-tested before dispatch, ships tracked in 2 to 5 business days, and costs a flat $50 under $1,000 with free shipping above it.
