Nook Small Electric Fireplace Stove — 750/1,500W

$189.00

A genuinely small electric fireplace stove: 48cm wide, 750W or 1,500W heat, and a real flame effect, for bedrooms, offices, cabins and tight corners.

Nook small electric fireplace stove in matte black with compact glass door and flame effect

A small electric fireplace stove is usually the cheapest thing in the catalogue and the most disappointing thing in the room. Plastic body, tiny window, a heater that barely registers.

The Nook takes a different route. It is 48cm wide, but it is still steel with a real glass door and two honest heat settings.

Small electric fireplace stove at a glance

  • 48cm wide, 51cm tall, 29cm deep
  • Dual heat settings: 750W (2,600 BTU) or 1,500W (5,200 BTU)
  • Real glass door with a log and ember bed, not a printed panel
  • Flame-only mode for ambience at a few watts
  • Adjustable thermostat, remote and eight hour timer
  • 14kg, so one person can carry it between rooms

At $189 it is the entry point to the range. It is also the one most people should buy for a bedroom, a home office or a garden room.

Compact design that does not look cheap

The body is matte black steel with rounded edges. That rounding matters in small rooms, where a sharp-cornered box looks aggressive.

The glass door is real glass over a log and ember bed. Cheaper compact units print a picture of a fire onto a plastic panel, and it shows the moment the room dims.

Proportions are deliberate. At 51cm tall the unit sits below most window sills and beside most beds, which is where small stoves actually go.

There is no attempt to look like a full-size wood burner. The Nook reads as a compact stove in its own right, and that honesty works better than a shrunken copy of a 32kg model.

Two heat settings, and why that matters

Most 1,500W heaters only have one speed: full. A small electric fireplace stove in a 120 square foot bedroom rarely needs full.

At 750W the Nook produces about 2,600 BTU and draws 6.25 amps. That is enough to take the edge off a bedroom or hold a home office at temperature through a working day.

At 1,500W it produces 5,200 BTU and draws 12.5 amps, which is the full output of a standard circuit.

  • Bedroom up to 150 sq ft: comfortable on 750W
  • Home office: 750W all day without tripping a shared circuit
  • Cabins and garden rooms: 1,500W to warm from cold, then low
  • Caravan annexes: the low setting suits smaller power supplies

That low setting is the reason this unit exists. It is not a compromise, it is the feature.

Placement in a small room

Allow 15cm behind and either side, and 60cm in front. Those are smaller clearances than any other stove we sell, because the unit is smaller.

On a desk or a shelf, check the surface holds 14kg and the intake underneath is not blocked by a drawer or a stack of paper.

It suits a bedside table, a desk return, a windowsill-height shelf or the floor beside an armchair. In a cabin or a shed it can sit on almost any flat surface that takes the weight.

Do not put it where a door swings or where someone will kick it getting out of bed. The tip-over switch protects the unit, not your toe.

Running costs and efficiency

At 750W the unit uses 0.75 kWh an hour, which costs about 11 cents at the US average of 15 cents per kWh.

At 1,500W it doubles to roughly 22 to 23 cents. A 120 square foot home office held at temperature on low will cost about 11 cents an hour, or under a dollar across a working day.

Flame-only mode draws a few watts. In a bedroom, that is often all you want.

The Department of Energy explains the cost of resistance heat. A small electric fireplace stove beats a full-size unit on running cost simply because you rarely need full power.

Who it suits

It suits bedrooms, home offices, cabins, she-sheds, garden rooms and caravan annexes. Anywhere a full-size stove would be absurd.

It suits renters and students, because it fits in a car and needs nothing installed.

It does not suit a living room over 200 square feet, where 5,200 BTU spread across a large space will always feel thin. Buy a full-size stove for that.

Installation in five steps

There is almost nothing to install. Out of the box, onto a surface, into a socket.

  1. Unpack and stand it upright on a stable surface.
  2. Check the feet sit flat and the unit does not rock.
  3. Plug into a 120V outlet. At 750W it can share a circuit with lamps and a TV.
  4. Run the flame for ten minutes.
  5. Switch to 750W first, then 1,500W if you need it.

Nobody needs a second pair of hands. At 14kg the whole process is a one-person job, and most people are sitting in front of it within five minutes of opening the box.

Three mistakes to avoid

Starting on 1,500W. In a small room, low heat reaches the same temperature more gently and costs half as much.

Putting it on a shelf that flexes. The glass needs a rigid, level surface underneath it.

Expecting it to heat a living room. A small electric fireplace stove is a room heater for rooms under 400 square feet. Push it further and you will blame the product for arithmetic.

None of those are complicated. They simply separate a good purchase from a bad one.

How it compares to our other stoves

The Retro Electric Fireplace Stove is the next step up at $249, with cream enamel and a 4,800 BTU heater for 300 to 400 square feet.

The Cast Iron Electric Fireplace Stove is the full-size option at $329 and handles a living room properly.

The Slimline Electric Fireplace Stove suits narrow rooms where the problem is floor space rather than room size.

All ten models sit side by side on the electric stoves collection page.

Bedrooms, offices and small spaces

A bedroom is where this unit makes most sense. You want the chill off for an hour before sleep, and you do not want a 32kg stove in the corner.

The eight hour timer handles that. Set two hours, fall asleep, and the unit switches itself off.

A home office is the second obvious use. Sitting still for hours makes a cold room feel colder, and 750W takes the edge off without a bill to match.

A garden room or shed is the third. A small electric fireplace stove at 14kg moves outside in summer and back in for winter without a van.

Small stove or plain space heater?

A space heater is cheaper and it looks like a space heater. In a spare room that may be fine.

In a guest room, a cabin, or anywhere the room is meant to feel finished, a small electric fireplace stove earns the extra forty dollars.

The difference is not the heat. It is the thing you look at in the evening, and the reason a room reads as somewhere to sit rather than somewhere to store things.

Flame-only mode is the argument that settles it. A space heater is useless in June. A small electric fireplace stove is a lamp with a fire in it.

Cabins, sheds and garden rooms

These are the rooms where a compact unit makes the most sense. Insulation is usually thin, and people occupy them in short bursts.

A small electric fireplace stove at 1,500W warms a garden office from cold in about twenty minutes, then holds it on 750W for the rest of the day.

Inside a cabin, the 14kg weight means you can move it between rooms without a trolley. That flexibility is worth more than a bigger heater you cannot lift.

For a shed with a single circuit, the 750W setting draws 6.25 amps and leaves room for a kettle or a light. That is often the deciding detail, and it is the reason this model outsells larger units in garden rooms.

Is 750W really enough?

For a room up to about 150 square feet, yes. 2,600 BTU will hold a bedroom or study at temperature once it is warm.

It will not warm a cold room quickly. Use 1,500W for the first twenty minutes, then drop to 750W to maintain.

That pattern is the most efficient way to run any dual-output heater, and it is why the second setting exists.

If your room runs past 250 square feet, buy a full-size stove instead. This one is honest about its limits.

What arrives in the box

Body, remote with batteries and the printed manual. The feet come fitted, so there is no assembly at all.

Every unit gets bench-tested before dispatch. We check both heat settings, the thermostat and the flame, then inspect the glass.

Warranty covers 12 months on the element and control board. Transit damage gets replaced with a photo and no restocking fee.

Questions reach a human through the contact page, and the running cost guide covers the wattage maths in detail.

Care and safety

Vacuum the underside intake every few weeks. It sits close to the floor and collects dust quickly.

Wipe the glass when it is cool, using a non-ammonia cleaner and a microfibre cloth.

Keep it clear of bedding and curtains. In a bedroom, fabric tends to end up near anything at floor level.

Nothing inside needs servicing. No fuel, no ash, no flue, and no annual visit.

Common questions

Is 750W enough to heat a room?

For a bedroom or home office up to about 150 square feet, yes. For a living room, use 1,500W.

Will a small electric fireplace stove trip a bedroom circuit?

At 750W it draws about 6.25 amps, comfortably within a 15 amp circuit shared with lamps and a television.

Can I put it on a shelf?

Yes, if the shelf holds 14kg and the intake underneath stays clear.

How big is the flame window?

Small by design. This is a compact stove, and the firebox scales with it.

Does it need assembly?

No. The feet come fitted, so it works straight out of the box.

Warranty and aftercare

Every unit covers 12 months on the element and control board. The LED flame is rated for tens of thousands of hours.

If the glass arrives cracked, a photo within 14 days gets a replacement. No restocking fee applies to a transit fault.

Returns run 30 days on unopened units. A small electric fireplace stove is an easy thing to buy twice, so measure the room first and save us both the paperwork.

Questions reach a human through the contact page. We answer the same day on weekdays, and we will tell you if a bigger model suits you better.

If you are buying for a spare room that gets used a dozen nights a year, this is the sensible size. It costs less to buy, less to run and less to move when you change the furniture around.
